Wildlife Viewing Guide
Education has always been an integral part of our whale & wildlife watching tours. This season, our 64 page color wildlife viewing guide is only $1! It was designed and produced in house by our talented staff and includes detailed information, photos, and descriptions on our local orcas, gray, minke, and humpback whales. It also includes a wide variety of other local species from porpoises to otters, sea lions to coyotes, and bald eagles to black oystercatchers! Almost all of the photographs in the guide book have been taken by our crew while onboard our boats. In addition, you’ll find a species check-off list to mark what was sighted on the day of your trip, a map of the San Juan Islands on which you can trace our route for the day, many diagrams, and entertaining facts about the creatures we see on a regular basis. Our new wildlife viewing guide is a great way to commemorate your day trip in the San Juan Islands with Island Adventures. If you have a favorite teacher that you think might enjoy a copy for the classroom, just let our office staff know and we'll give you an extra copy!
Free Binocular Use
Onboard all of our tours, you're more than welcome to use one of our pairs of binoculars at no charge! We'll simply ask for a piece of collateral (car keys, driver's license, etc.). Binoculars are great while searching for whales and wildlife, but it's often not necessary to use them while on scene with whales. Our onboard naturalists (more info below) will let you know when the best time is to use your binoculars and when to set them down.
If you have your own pair of binoculars, feel free to bring them onboard.
Frequent Floater Card
If you live here in Western Washington and you like to go whale watching on a regular basis with us, you might like to know that we offer a special perk for our many repeat customers. Simply request a Frequent Floater card at time of check in and we’ll mark off the number of people in your group. When you’ve reached twelve, you’ll receive a FREE Whale Watch trip! This is a very popular program that our repeat customers like to take advantage of. Many folks bring out-of-state visiting friends and family along for a whale watching trip and what a great way to show off our corner of the world while getting free tours for yourself! The frequent floater card does not expire; year to year use is permitted. Remember to ask one our friendly staff for one at time of check-in!
